Emily,
It is lichen sclerosus, a non-contagious skin disease, or at least that's what it looks like. The characteristic white patches on either side of the vulva and toward the anus are almost "textbook" examples of how it appears. Can she get to a gynecologist or a good dermatologist? I suggest putting extra virgin coconut or olive oil on it in the mean time to keep the skin moist. D o not use any body washes or soaps besides natural oil soaps. No sprays and probably no sex until you find out what is the cause. Best wishes.

Are you sure this is LS? She has no itching. Can this be caused by razor?

From the picture you sent, I would bet on LS. One does not have to have itching to have LS. That's one of four common symptoms: itching, burning, soreness and whitened patches. I have it and have never had any itching. You could try some over the counter hydrocortisone cream along with a borax solution 3 or 4 times a day, alternating of course. Does she have pain?

@eggbiscuit Can you please tell me your symptoms? My sis does not have any pain except for a little soreness after sex and that too sometimes. Do you feel sore/ the pain throughout the day?

Hi Emily,
I have pain just about everyday all day and night. It's all the time. Yesterday was good and I didn't eat that healthy but had little to no pain. ??? I could actually sit for a little while. Today was awful. Stress has a lot to do with it. Everybody's chemistry is different. So, yes, pain most all the time.

looks like LS and i hope your sister can get in to get treated. Does your sister have any pain associated with it?

No, she does not have any pain as well. She does feel a little sore after having sex sometimes. Except that she does not have any pain.

Has she made an appointment with a doctor yet? She should not let this go untreated. It must have taken a while to get to that point. I also do not have the itch that is considered characteristic of LS, but have been diagnosed with it. The sooner she is diagnosed and starts using a steroid and possibly a hormone cream the better.

hi, i was wondering if any of you ladies have LS on the vestibule area? if so, what does that look like? i have clitoris fusing and side fusing of labia but was able to release. i started to get a small sting in the vestibule area at the beginning of the year and i notice that it gets pale white color and my family doctor said to treat it. was wondering if anyone notices the same and if you treated it. currently it is not itchy or red but pale looking.
can you also share what your flare up symptoms are like? im still learning how to recgonize and manage this.
thank you!

@beverly She has an appointment this Saturday. She also thinks this is LS though she does not have itching. Did you have pain at all initially when it started or any other symptoms? She seems to be completely asymptomatic so far. She also said that she developed some period rashes last month and had applied Clobetasol to treat it and she also scrubbed the area down there with bodywash on a loofah. Can one of these reaaons cause this hypopigmenation? Her patch also do not appear 'parchment paper' type or wrinkled. From what we are reading on web, the LS patches looks wrinkled. Hers is a smooth surface just white.

No pain; now just general discomfort that comes and goes within the course of a day. It almost isn't worth comparing symptoms as we all seem to experience it differently. What matters is that a doctor diagnoses it and she is treated to keep it under control.
Why is she scrubbing a sensitive area with body wash and loofahs? NO soap at all should be used unless dr recommends. NO shaving. Nothing that can cause irritation. Assuming she is seeing a dr experienced in LS s/he will give her a protocol to follow.
You don't say how long she has looked like that. Can't have happened overnight. I had only two very faint white lines between the buttocks (required magnifying glass to see) that went away with steroid ointment. But LS never goes away.
It amazes me she has such extreme discoloration yet feels no symptoms.
Does she not use a computer?

She did not have any patch two months ago. All started after her last period and after she changed her body wash and scrubbed down there with loofah.
