White patches on penis

Posted , 1 user is following.

A few days ago I had an onset of these painless white or hypopigmented parches on the shaft of my penis. They seem to be flat or possibly slightly raised, its hard to tell. These started the day after i started using Lotrimin for a mild fungal infection on my scrotum, so I'm not sure if there is a relationship. the skin seems to have normal elasticity, and I have no other symptoms associated with it. Urgent care had no idea, and I cant get in to see a dermatologist until September. I know it's rare, but I'm absolutely terrified this could be the start of lichen sclerosis. Does anyone have any ideas? Or has anyone had something like this happen? I'm hoping it's just dry skin or some kind of dermatitis from the

antifungal. Any responses are appreciated.

    hi,

i believe i have the same condition, i am not a doctor but my guess is Lichen planus, for me the condition got a little worse then better...i notice the skin can becomes raised/dry following the pattern...do you see the same thing? i have hd it for almost a year now.

doctor response seems pretty useless, they can prescribe steroid cream, seems to be something that can help or sometimes not help and it is an extremly strong steroid cream the prescribe which should be used with caution, if it is LP the best thing to do is just to try an not stress and get on with life because stress may well be contributing to the condition appearing: personally i got very worried at one point but now it seems to not really cause any problems apart from worry.. my doctor was not sure and gave steriod cream which i used once and decided not to go ahead with using it. .lichen sclerosis seems to be something potentially much more disconcerting. but my humble opinion is lichen planus. do respond/keep us/me updated.

    best wishes

Thank you for your thorough reply. I had a biopsy done by a dermatologist, which came back completely normal. Not even inflammation.

I'm going to go for a second opinion when i can get in. I'm still very nervous that the discoloration may be the start of lichen sclerosis and the biopsy did not pick it up. I still have no pain or other symptoms with it. How it just showed up without explanation is very bothersome to me

thank you for your response, well that is good that it came back negative for anything. can you tell me if the skin patterns become more raised? does the skin following the round patterns become raised/dry or does it become pinkish?

i would say that the skin appears to be very complex and the more you look at it the more you notice and i feel like the line between seeing changes, focusing on the skin in detail for the first time, and getting paranoid is a difficult thing to distinguish between....

in the end it looks like your condition if it is anything at all it is mild and if it does not cause any real problems apart from worry then it seems like the worst thing to do for me is worry and let it cause worry and stress which only makes things worse.

just to say i wash down below now only with specialist soaps such as Aveeno, products for skin with excema etc. and i make sure i dab any excess urine with a tissue. to my surprise i found that i have excess drops after urinating and i would not be surprised if this could be a contributing factor to causing a problem.

i appreciate you taking the time to respond.

please do keep me updated with any change/progression in symptoms.
