White pigmentation in areola...is this normal??

i have been struggling with my health anxiety the past few weeks. last week, i found a little white dot at the tip of my nipple. looked like a pimple. i went to the doctor and he did a breast exam, said all was normal, no lumps and no need for testing because nothing was found. the white spot on nipple is a gland, nothing to worry about. we'll fast forward to today, I was looking in the mirror and see a whitish spot, looks like pigmentation on the areola next to the nipple. it's a very small area, I may have always had it but never really noticed. would the doctor have seen that white spot?? I'm afraid he didn't see it. the white disappears when nipple is hard. it all blends together. no other symptoms, just a white spot that looks almost like it's bleached out. does anyone have this experience where the areolas are different colors? not sure if this is a normal color variation. so scared it's a form of breast cancer

i’ve had those. Remember that anxiety will put negative thoughts into the mind that are not based on fact. Your mind has told you it could be a form of cancer, but that is something that is made up. it has nothing to do with reality.
The tiny white spots can be a part of what is called Montgomery tubercles which everybody has on the areola. they often have a white or yellow ish tip on them. Completely normal.

thank you so much for your reply. yes! my mind is telling me cancer. I am so scared. I'm scared about the depigmentation on my areola. not sure if I've always had it or if it's a normal colour variation. the dr didn't mention the area when he examined me, but I'm so afraid if he didn't see it? he told me the pimpley spot was nothing to worry about, just a gland, but what if he didn't see the other spot?

he most likely saw the other spot. But if you are still anxious about it, go back to see him and be specific about what you were concerned about. You could also go to a gynecologist because they are also trained in breast conditions. Chances are you are fine, but go ahead and have it checked out again if that would help you to relax more.
