White tonsil for 4 months

Hi just wondering if anyone has had similar? in March this year I thought I may have hayfever as I had an itchy throat so started taking anti histamines but in May my throat started to hurt so I took a look and one of tonsils was enlarged and white, I rang for a GP appointment but I could not get a face to face appointment instead had to send a picture , from this my GP sent a prescription to the pharmacy for anti biotics, this did not work so then I was prescribed oral thrush medicine that has also not worked! my GP has now made an urgent referral to my local ENT department but its now been 4 weeks and I still haven't heard anything. I am going out of my mind with worry.
