I had both of my eyes done two years ago. I had the numbing drops and also some IV sedation. Went perfectly well for me.

I only had numbing drops. No other sedation used or needed in my case
How did your surgery turn out? I assume well and you are pleased?

yes very well. The fear before was worse than the surgery. Numbing drops were totally all that was needed and very glad I chose that!.. second eye same way in 4.5 days!

Prior to the surgery I had multiple eye drops administered, likely these were dilation, numbing, and infection prevention. Seems like they were administered about five times, sometimes multiple drops. I was also given a tiny valium to put under my tongue. Not sure if any of the additional drops were for the femtosecond laser procedure.

how did it all go? ..in this hospital you're told no food or drink after midnight...so when ur going in for surgery, then you hear " we cant give oral sedation because you fasted!!!
since I then wasnt allowed oral, and was totally deadset against iv...I chose the only option- numbing drops!
It really is all that's needed!

It went well. No discomfort, no anxiety, and no complications. My surgery was performed in a private clinic, and not a hospital. There was no requirement to fast before the procedure, just a light breakfast.
Another patient on the same day decided not to take the valium and said he started to freak out during the surgery. Everyone has a different level of comfort. My opinion is you should do what makes the doctor most comfortable, and follow their recommendations.

I had my surgery on right eye a week ago. Had an IV along with all of the pre-opp drops.
The IV drug helped me to relax. Couldn't even imagine this procedure with out some form of sedation.
BTW I had the Panoptix lense inplanted and I couldn't be happier. Will be having the second eye don in 2 weeks.

trust me I was so scared..but more scared of IV side effects (the more rare ones)

No problems with drops. Easy peasy. I am on cloud 9 with the pan optix. I am wearing no glasses and still have 2nd eye to do in 2 weeks. So glad I didn't change my mind on pan optix.....
The IV sedation is well worth it....Would have been terrified if I didn't have the IV....

Glad all went well for your surgery. So great you can see that well with only 1 eye operated on.

thank you
. Im.surprised that with the toric monofocal for distance that I can see the car instrument dashboard- speed..gas.etc etc..so surprised. since I read that's intermediate distance...so happy and that's with one eye!!

Very difficult who will get better (more range) with a monofocal lens. Everyone's eye is different. Looks like you will be in that 5 or 10%. will your doctor be targeting 2nd eye for a bit closer or same distance as first?

He only had said both for distance perhaps because My natural eyesight is awful (without glasses would be legally blind)
but Now in these few days I have to close operated eye and use left unoperated eye to dab the gooey guck filmy discharge out because I cant see close up with that eye to do that with that eye.
.
suean..I'm scared now. the hospital where im.scheduled for second eye in 2 days just went on the news it had its first coronavirus patient tested positive. A man who came there this past weekend and was sent home and test came out positive. That's all the news said. they said all the personnel who attended to him took all good proticols and those employees will be monitored everyday with temps taken few times a day.
no other word.
what should I do? surg is 10 min but by time u check in...etc etc it can b hours! (one op room.was out of order and last thurs I was 6 hrs in the hospital because of that!!
what do I do???? scared scared

Oh no. Don't panic but do get in touch with your doctor/surgeon's office yo see what they advise. I would think they would be advising anyone who could have come in contact so as to have them self quarantine. But do give them a call and ask about your situation.
Cataract surgery is not urgent so if they feel a delay is advisable then they will reschedule your surgery.
Thinking of you and hoping all is well. Keep safe.

Perhaps if you purchase one of those make-up mirrors (back-lit and magnifies) it would help with those close in tasks.

There may be other reasons he is correcting both eyes for distance. However, I don't think your natural eyesight would be an issue. The normal practice for monovision is to under correct the "near" eye by about -1.5 D (sometimes more and sometimes less). That said, it is best to "test drive" monovision with various under corrections before doing it. Say for example you need a -6.5 D correction in the eye, you would get a -5.0 D contact lens and then see how well you see, with your IOL full distance correction, and the second eye under corrected with a contact.
