Whoops, rolled my good ankle! 🤣

So I had ankle surgery with plates and screws on my right ankle last November. All has gone well, my surgeon says Im good to start normal activities. Ha well, today I rolled my one good ankle. Heard it pop a bit but everything seems fine. i can move it up down, in circles, side to side. i can walk fine on it, just very sore. I have been using ice and elevating it. Will this clear up in a couple weeks? Just cant get out of my own way!

You have just described my greatest fear! Reinjuring my ankles!

I'm glad to hear that it sounds rather minor. If it is feeling okay to weight bear, and moving through the range okay, then I would ice and elevate as you are doing. Sounds like a sprain. If you are concerned, feel like your range of motion is impacted, or it feels unstable at all I would go to a physiotherapist - they are going to be able to assist better than a GP - unless your physio requires a referral. You might need a light brace for a while. Especially if your right ankle is still not as stable as it once was.

Ligament injuries, like sprains can take up to 12 weeks to settle depending how bad they are, but unless you did major damage like I did (blew all the ligaments in the left ankle at the same time as I broke the right one), it shouldn't take that long to heal up.

Thanks for the reply. It already feels a lot better. It wasnt even swollen oe bruised the day i fell. I have been walking very carefully for the time being. I am just glad I didn't reinjure the ankle i originally broke. That one feels just like normal. Been keeping an eye on it.
