Whooshing Noise

Can anyone relate to these symptoms, I have a whooshing sound (like a baby heartbeat with ultrasound)

its only in my right ear and only when I turn my neck to the left. I only really notice it a night but it wakes me up, everything you see on the internet points to something nasty but everyone says there whooshing is continuous. I have a appointment with ENT in 2 weeks but I am really scared.

Good you are able to get onto an ENT quickly. My tinnitus started just over a year ago after a nasty flu. More pronounced in left ear than right. I only just got into an ENT 2 weeks ago. Doesn't appear anything can be done. Being sent for hearing tests. I am like that too where some nights sounds like a chorale of crickets chirping in my ears and hard to sleep.

They say there is mo cure - only managing it. I have tried many home remedies - nothing has worked so far. If you can get a white noise machine or something else that makes a noise - fan diffuser etc even Tv or radio on low to distract from tinnitus it helps.

Hi Sue An, I have had to wait two months for my appointment and my anxiety has just been getting worse and worse Im worried its some kind of blood vessel disorder or tumor its the most frightening thing. I just hope the doctor can give me some answers.

I can understand your anxiety. I had a very long wait to see specialist. Unfortunately unless it is hearing loss and you get hearing aids not much can be done about it. My anxiety wad high those early months - still can get that way. Some days the noise i hear is worse than others - especially at night. Some nights it keeps me awake. Few nights like that and then i sleep due to exhaustion.

ENT will say it is brain thing but i am not so sure. Mine started after a flu. it had been a year. Anxiety stress all make it worse so I would suggest you find ways to de-stress and remove anxiety. White noise helps or having other noise on to distract helps too.

I have tried lots of home remedies - nothing works. Haven't found anyone find the cure yet for this.

Hi, it's tinnitus, you can have tinnitus in one ear or both ears, in my view the longer you've had it the less likely it will stop, I've had tinnitus for 24 years in both ears, it's not really in the ears it's a brain thing, your brain hearing a phantom noise sort of thing, tinnitus is quite common and generally nothing serious just an aggravation, you have to try to ignore it, over time you sort of habituate to it becomes less intrusive, tinnitus can be brought on by excessive loud noise, continuous loud noise, being ill, viruses, ear wax problems, seems many things can trigger it. your ENT will explain more, hope this gives an insight.
