Why am I experiencing ankle pain?

Hi! I am a teen that is not so active. I don't play any sports so I'm not exercising much. About 5 days ago my ankle started to hurt. It just seemed like an ache and I wasn't worried about it. There was never a specific moment where I remember hurting it. The next night the pain became worse so I did some research but I wasn't really finding anything. A few days went by and the pain was mostly gone and when it was there was not awful. Just a few hours ago the pain slowly came back and is hurting badly. I am almost in tears and have no idea what is wrong. It does look slightly swollen with no bruising. Any feedback or help is greatly appreciated.

Trinity 07. I feel your pain!! Can you walk on your foot? If you can it might be a sprain. Keep some ice on your swollen area at all times take some Advil while you do that it will help take the swelling down. In the pain keeps on pursuing it you might have to go to the doctor but like I said I might be a sprain if the paint comes off and on it will be just like a little ankle brace put on your ankle and then when you're at home just stay off it to get well again but like I said see if you can walk on it it don't sound like you have any broken bones you might have a crack but that's why you got to go to the doctor. Hope everything goes well

I can walk on it but depending on the moment sometimes I can walk fine other times with a slight limb or a more serious one. I was thinking a sprain too but the way it comes and goes is confusing to me. I am taking it easy and if it still hurts I'll go to the doctors.
