I’m definitely an anxiety suffer for years now I’m 41 and I started with anxiety after my first child at the of 21. I’ve been to the doctor more times then I can even count have had ekg echo and stress test done also more times then I can count. I have every single symptom of a heart attack....! It’s starting to really take over my life where I don’t even want to leave my house! I’m a wife and a mother of three 18,10, and 5 so this is pretty hard! Also I’d like to state I have never taken any medication for it because I’m petrified to swallow a pill because I’m afraid pill will kill me yes I’m that bad. HELP

Well I can definitely relate.. my first panic attack Occured a week after I turned 22 and I had just had my second baby.. I am still 22 lol so this is all new to me I've never had anything like this happen until last year . But I kept calling the ambulance for about a week straight saying heart attack heart attack and one day the guy was like it is very unlikely for you to have a heart attack at your age so I kind of just threw the heart attack idea out my head after that but now I get really bad shortness of breath and just like you I refuse to take meds I can't swallow a pill for some odd reason like I can't explain why but I just don't take them.. I want to get better but I don't even know where to start as well. I know I'm extremely stressed due to personal issues. But honestly all I can say is if u been to the hospital and they ran all these test and ruled out heart attack then clear your mind of it.. I know it's hard it took me a whole month to rule out heart attack.. it got to the point where I was tired of going to the er for them to kick me right out to say Anxiety. So I just accept it now. And tell myself it's not a heart attack just stupid anxiety.. I will be praying for the both of us because this Sucks

Thank you...trust me I get over that it’s not a heart attack once I leave the er but the next day it’s the same stuff all over again hoping I can get passed this someday!!! As for now I think I’m going to start talking to a professional and maybe try some yoga! Best of luck for you

Hi. I am the same as you except I am only 18 - terrified of medication and convinced I have cardiac issues. When in reality, we are feeling physical symptoms of our anxiety that are frightening because they literally mimic the symptoms of so many serious conditions. Hang in there, try to keep your mind occupied... I found yoga, meditation, exercise and therapy have helped me loads.

I so sympathize with this! My anxiety has taken over my life at times and I’m going through a tough transition right now! I am 31 with no family history of heart problems although I need o lose 40lbs which I am working on! I have good BP and decent cholesterol and I am always afraid that I will drop down dead at any moment from cardiac arrest or a heart attack. I get heart palps and I will feel my heart flip flop from time to time. A bit of chest discomfort as well as minor arm pain and weakness that comes and goes. I have had 2 EKGs, 3 chest X-rays, an echo, and numerous blood tests which have all come back normal. It’s hard for me to believe because I get so dizzy from time to time and I almost feel like my pulse is weak at times. It’s horrible. I wish I had good advice for you! I do see a therapist and I take anxiety meds. My doc put me on a low dose beta blocker which seems to help during those periods of heart palps but it’s scary as heck.

Why don't you start taking beta blockers?

Oh yea that helps a lot it slows up your heart rate like fast lol they gave me that at the hospital and soon as she put it in my iv my heart rate went from 130 to 98 in like 2 minutes

Beta blockers are a kind of medication that is used for people who have heart arrhythmias, palpitations, or even high BP. Betas work by slowing the heart rate down. A normal dose won’t slow it down too significantly so don’t worry about your heart slowing too much! My doc prescribed me some after my heart tests came back normal and he deemed my occasional tachycardia was due to stress from my current divorce. It does help a lot!

Glad to hear that..my heart rate is usually normal but sometimes I'll have high heart rate my doctor prescribed me 250 beta blockers and wanted me to take them twice a day I thought that was a little ridiculous because my heart rate wasn't that bad only when I'm stressed or having a panic attack and I to have marital issues that caused mine as well.. but I'm going to take the beta blockers occasionally
