biopsy came back negative but due to the symptoms i am being treated with 60 mgs od predisone. 20 mg three times a day. i have not had muscle pain in weeks and can do almost everything i use to without hurting the next day. i do know it is the medicine but I think why am i taking these medicines? I am fine and back to normal. Since i work in the medical field, i know these kinds of patients and now I am one. stopping meds just cause they are working. Since it has not even been a month since the biopsy I do not think I will be reduced soon but i am hoping.

Strange to use 3x20mg - the international recommendations are to take the dose all at once in the morning. They usually recommend against splitting the dose in GCA although one study found it made no difference and I think that if the effect doesn't last the full 24 hours you need to split (that isn't medical advice BTW)
You are fine and back to normal for one reason and one reason only: you are taking enough pred to manage the inflammation! Though you are the first I've heard to claim they feel normal on 60mg pred! Most doctors would start to reduce from 60mg after a month if all the symptoms appear under control. Some drop 10mg at a time, others say 5mg.
All the best!

What has your doctor said about reducing? If you have been taking the steroids for a few weeks you cannot just stop you will need to taper down. I am surprised that if you have been taking them for around a month that your doctor should be looking at reducing if you feel fine. I would have thought the doctors would want to reduce a fairly high dose of steroids reasonably soon if things seem to be working.
