Why dont doctors keep up with things on the computer..we do.

Hi I went to my doctor today, again got a few answers but not many. This is about my sixth trip about vaginal atrophy.I would ask her questions, got a few..i have never heard that..vitamin e,costs of HRT treatment,I mentioned the Mona Lisas Smile treatment. She has not heard of that either. She wrote it down and I believe she was quite anxious to look it up.I wonder why some doctors dont like us looking up things on the net, they should be doing the same.I would think they could learn many new things from the computer.

I think Lee, and this does frustrate me as much as it does you, that it's because they a GENERAL practitioners and they just dont have enough time to really go into options of problems and this is why we get sent to specialists.  I don't think their training, or their time for research allows for anything but general.   But the pressure on them not to refer now, is wrong.  If they don't have an answer, they should refer, in my view.  Six trips about a problem would be OK if it was dealing with it, but six trips not to achieve anything - I'd be pushing for a referral.  BUT, with a bit of luck you'll find some answers that will work for you on this group!  Then you get tell your doctor, on the next trip, so she can suggest that for someone else.  What I found really refreshing was that she doesn't use vagifem much, because so many GPs don't seem to see beyond that.  BUT, having said that, if she's using a cream instead, she needs to make sure it can't be overdosed and is in an applicator because of that.    But how's it going with you now?
