Why is my heart beat so uncomfortable?

So I'm having some weirdness with my heart. I thought it had to do with anxiety, but it happens even when I'm perfectly calm, relaxed, or happy. Background: I'm a 21 year old female. I drink extremely rarely and exercise fairly rarely as well but walk every day and do work a sedentary job.

Here is what I feel:

-(happened once) I was getting up from sitting down alone, and I felt the craziest pressure in my entire chest. It was like the wind got knocked out of me and I couldn't breathe for about three seconds. Then my vision started to go back. Not spotty like when you get up too fast. It was slow and just darkness.

-(happened once) not sure if it's related because I was very sick at the time. But I was in a room of people and started seeing black again. Then I couldn't hear, it felt like someone had their hands over my ears. I got really dizzy and then nauseous and then got actually sick to my stomach.

-(happens often) I find myself often with an accelerated heart beat. Typically I when I measure it, it's between 100-140. During these times I might just be sitting, at work, walking the dog, etc. Nothig highly active that should cause this.

-(happens often) I almost feel like my heart flip flops. The closest thing I can compare it to visually is a fish out of water. It literally feels like my heart is almost twitching.

-(happens every so often) it almost feels like my heart skips a beat. So instead of being consistent there is just an awkward pause for a second and then the first beat back is hard.

-(happens often) I am extremely aware of my heart beat. Again, without exercise but I feel it in my chest, other times I feel it in my arms and legs, or feel it in my face and ears.

-(happens every so often) I sometimes feel pain that is in my ribs or breast on the left side. I think. I don't think it's my heart feeling pin but I don't know.

The only instance that was ever even remotely painful in my heart was the first one. But there is definitely discomfort and I'm extremely aware. I don't have health insurance right now (just switched jobs and it's a complicated situation) and I don't want to seem like a hypochondriac. Any thoughts or advice would be great.

I don't know if I do. Are you talking about something like planned parenthood? I don't know of any places that do heart health

Go there they may be able to give you somewhere to go to be checked out or have a staff member to help you out. You can always go to emergency I don't believe they would turn someone with heart issues without insurance away most hospital will work with you and not turn you away. Get help soon.

Does your immediate family have heart issues and have you discussed this with them?

None of my family has heart issues. But I've noticed it getting weirder over the last two or three months. My boyfriend has a fib and has had multiple surgeries and suggested that it could be a problem. But I worry that he could be more mentally geared toward that especially since I have no family history which is why I wanted to ask elsewhere. But because no one else in my family has heart issues I haven't discussed it with them. My mom has hyper thyroid issues which effected her heart rate and she had panic attacks and my aunt had hypo thyroid issues but I've never had any other symptoms and irregularities aren't typical for that.

Your mother and aunt my have a heart issue that is triggering the thyroid problems. I was diagonised with Hocm last year after a angiogram and within a month I had it repaired thru alcohol septial ablation this condition is passed down in a family and my mother died from it at age 70 and had previously been diagonised with extremely overactive thyroid that should medication for 20 years. When she died in 1985 the medical profession had no idea what Hocm was now they know and thyroid is one thing it triggers others are hypertension early and in my case diagonised when I was 32 and heart murmurs that become stronger as patient ages. They are find this in young athletes that die suddenly and professional athletes that are excellent physical condition my serious problems started when I was 70 and a year later it was finally diagnosed. Get check out and discuss with your mom about what she remembers about her parents and aunts and uncles and what caused their deaths. I Don't mean to frighten you but I've researched this for the past year and have read many articles. This happens in 1 out of 500 individuals and if it's in the family there is a 50/50 chance of passing it on to your children.

    Hi Annabelle,

my name is Glynis and l have been diagnosed with myocarditis which is damage to the heart muscle caused by a virus. I had similar symptoms to your with palpitations and mild chest discomfort. The missed beat then hard beat felling is due to ectopics. These are usually harmless until you get a lot together. I would seek medical advice right away, even if it means attending  A&E. ( I live in England, not sure what it Is where you are). Don't be worried about being a hyperchondriac, your health is more important. Please don't delay. Post me a message to let me know how you get on. Take care, Glynis x

I know this is an old post message, but was wondering if you ever got diagnosed with what you had. I had similar symptoms and was diagnosed with costochondritis and premature ventricular heart beat. I hope your better. I just ran into this blog and found it helpful.
