Why so long to work

Posted , 12 users are following.

My Gp told me Sertraline can take six to eight weeks to kick in.

However, another GP told me to say it shoudn’t take that long , totally confused who do you believe.

Or should I give longer.

I think if it’s going to work it will have lifted you at least a bit by 6 weeks, I think that’s a fair enough time to try a med.   I took mirtazapine 6-7 weeks and felt no benefit so that’s why I’m currently switching.   Keep going back to your gp if you aren’t feeling better, or switch gp if they aren’t taking you seriously.   Don’t feel you have to do exactly what your gp says if it’s not working it’s not working.   Only you know what you feel.  Xx

Hey I have been taking it for 10 days now at 25mg and ive seen some modest results. Ive slept better and my anxiety isnt overwhelming me in the day. But every single time I get out of bed in the morning I have to dry heave/puke so I can tell there is still some morning anxiety happening. Im so used to the ‘nausea’ it doesnt really bother me, just feels like my stomach is starving even when its not.

It's not so much dependant on how long, but more to do with how much you take. Therapeutic dosage of sertraline is 150-200mg. If you are only on 25 or 50 you will likely not experience any relief. If you follow the recommended dosages of 25mg increasing by 25 every 2 weeks, it will be around 12 weeks before it all clicks and things are better.

I'm on 50mg 5 week and 100 5 week and feel awful crazy anxiety and ocd thoughts it's worse

I take ativan in the morning since I'm a wreck when I wake up. So for me 10 weeks I dont feel a thing so it might take longer hope yours work faster then me lol
