Wife suffering with endless cold sores / swollen lip / skin rash

Hi everyone.  Just wondering if anyone has any advice for my wife.  About a month ago she started gettin a cold sore on her bottom lip, and it got pretty bad.  She also was getting some very itchy rashes in her inner elbows.  She spent a few weeks trying to tend to it with ointments and oils, but it kept getting worse, her lips were very swollen and itchy and painful and finally she went to the doctor last week for it.  They gave her a perscription of some anti-viral drug that she has been taking now for about four days, it started to get better but this morning she woke up with another cold sore, and today her lip is swelling again and her arm rash is back.  Does anyone have any clue what might be going on here?  I just hate to see her suffer like she is.
