i started my first dose of 10 mg lexapro last night and i woke up having a panic attack. my chest and back felt hot and my heart was racing. I am wondering if i take 2.5mg or 5mg will i still have these panic attacks as a sode effect?

5 and 10 mg have a similar effect. Talk to your doctor to see if you can start with 2.5 mg.
