Will citalopram 20mg help me take my mind off my heartbeat?

Im 29 and well used to being on this drug in and off for years.

i started having panic attacks this year so iv been put on 20mg.

im totally obessed with my heart palpitations and even though iv calmed down a lot i still focus on my heart fluttering and beating. i just want to stop thinking about it. Even when im trying to relax i can feel it beating which effects my sleep.

Will my mindset change soon as iv only been on 20mg for 3weeks.

any advice would help so much!

Things will settle down yes, but at the moment because it's only 3 weeks in it's likely that you may experience some increases anxiety anyway due to the side effects. But, I'm the same I always over analyse my heart beat which makes me panic when my anxiety is bad, but now I haven't had many episodes of it. I'm on 10mg for around 8 months now. It took a while though to feel OK, so just try and be kind to yourself over the next few weeks. It will get better and those thoughts will decrease in time.
