Will discontinue taking Citalopram

I have been prescribed Citalopram 20mg to manage anxiety and depression. I'm not keen on taking tablets, but not sure NHS cognitive behavioural therapy would help me either, and felt that something stronger than Propanol (which is what i've been taking on occasions) could possibly snap me out of my low moods.

I took the first tablet today at about 1pm, and was completely wiped out by 6pm - feeling dizzy, not able to concentrate, no appetite and extremely jaded not able to make decisions, especially around my children. I went to lie down for an hour which helped somewhat but it is extremely unlike me to be like this. It may be down to a busy day, Easter Holidays swimming, running, etc

The GP who prescribed the medicine said: "Dont let the side effects worry you -all medicine have side effects.... " but after reading this forum, and my experience today, i am seriously considering not to continue with this medicine- or at least I will be doing more research into managing depression and anxiety without having to take these serious mood blockers.
