Will I be telephoned if my wrist is fractured?

I was cycling to work when the pedal jumped and threw me off, I did not notice at first as I had more distracting injuries, but my wrist became more painful and swollen as the day went on. I felt strongly like it was a sprain but as the pain did not settle I went to see my GP the next morning, to get a medical opinion. He said it could quite easily be fractured and sent me for an outpatient X-ray.

The guy who took my x-ray said my GP would get my results in a week, but if my wrist is fractured will I be contacted beforehand for treatment?

I’m not sure to be honest but when I injured my wrist at the beginning of April following a fall in my garden I went straight to Accident & Emergency in my local hospital to get it checked out. I had an X-ray and the results came through straight away to the A&E doctor who was treating me - I had fractured my wrist!

If you are in pain and concerned I would go to hospital as if you have fractured your wrist it needs to be Immobilized straight away to avoid further damage.

It was a week between my fracture & surgery. They can’t set it until the swelling goes down. However, they usually wrap it to keep it stable. Wish you’d gone to the emergency room.
