Will I have to take medicine for Cyclothymia?

(Sorry for my low English level, it isn't my first language)

I think I have Cyclothymia. It started at 12 and 10 months, and now I'm 13 and 8 months. Through the months I had 5-7 hypomanic periods, and other 5-10 mild hypomanic ones. I sometimes crashed after them with depression, and I sometimes  didn't.

My depression wasn't so seriously till now, (I cried a lot and hated myself and my life etc. but nothing very strong, and it was also short - a few hours)

But now it's getting worse. It's longer (can be a few days), or more serious - my thoughts are becoming "harder" (how can I call it?!) - I mean, I think more pesimictic and bad of the world, and I sometimes feel my life is totally meaningless and I wish I could die. I regard suicide something very positive at that time. (This kind of thoughts lasts only for a few hours)

So, according to the details, Will I have to take madicine if I'll get the diagnosis of Cyclothymia? I saw that some therapies are in use, and I didn't understand if they can be a subsitute for medicine. And if they are, do you think in my case I will have to take medicine as well? (or just a therapy?)
