Will i loose even more weight?

Firstly i decided to register on the site. Everyone seems to be a great support and it's been really helpful to me to read everyone's experiences. So thankyoou.

I'm 16 and i have been advised to go onto fluoxetine, i've finally admitted to needing it and i wan't to get better. Though i have a couple of worries about the side effects:

I lost alot of weight in the space of a year. I'm 5'3 and went from 8stone4 to my current weight 7stone5. One of the side effects is weight loss, and i'm worried that i'll loose even more weight, i'm not worried because i think i'll get too thin.. but i think it may actually want me to loose even more weight. At the moment i'm stuggling with appetite so don't eat alot but i'm worried that if my appetite is supressed even more it will make me worse because i enjoy loosing the weight..

I do understand that it may not effect me and side effects are different for each person.. but do you think that i should just go on it and hope for the best?

Any comments would be appreciated. (:

Hi there Star_Struck. I lost 4 stone in 4 months (stress related- I was eating OK, but was 'worrying' the weight off' I think!). I was put on Flu for anxiety/ depression (not related to weight) and have been on it now for 3 or so weeks. I have noticed a slight loss of appetite but am not loosing weight so quickly anymore. I find it helps to eat three good meals a day whether I'm hungry or not - that way I don't thnk the Flu can cause any significant weight loss.... Don't know if that helps you at all -

    Keep us posted.

    hiya folks,

its quite common for fluoxetine to 'kill' the hunger feelings as a side effect, but lets face it, peeps like me that suffer from chronic fatigue as a major symptom of depression, i sleep up to 16 hours a day, every day and the rest of the time even the slightest physical effort is a nightmare, i feel like i've got lead diver's boots on !!! (i can earn gold medals for sleeping when having a bad episode ) so therefore we are burning a lot less calories than 'normal' i reckon LESS than 1000 cals a day 8)

the secret is to eat little and often, snacking if you like, but making sure its balanced stuff, fruit, nuts, veggies etc etc, so as not to go short on essential vitamins and minerals, dont forget fish, its a brilliant 'brain' food

only worry about any weight loss if it is getting outa hand, if you think it is, speak to your doc :ok: besides i would have thought you ladies would love having a legit reason for stuffing choccies, biccies, cakes etc into you for the extra calories you might need lol, go for it guuuuuurrrrrrrrrrlls

    cheers,

    hey everyone,

well i'm a guy and don't like being skinny. over the last few months i have noticed a link with my depression. when i feal down i have no hunger. plus i think i have a very high metabolism. there has been times when i was eating tons of food for months. but yet i only gained very little weight.

yeah that is a plus point, coz i don't have to worry about what i eat. only that i eat something.

at the moment i don't have a job so i usually sleep at least 10 hours. when i'm awake i sit most of the time playing on my ps3. therefor i dont burn a lot of calories. i do eat more than 1000 calories tho. about 2000, but for my age and size i would need to eat at least 3000 a day. i find that hard to do on a day to day basis tho.

    all the best
