Will I stop bleeding as soon as I have my implant taken out?

I've had the implant in for over 3 months and have been bleeding straight for 2 months ranging from light to heavy. I asked to have it taken out as my blood pressure was low and I have a history with suffering with anemia so they put me on cerrelle which didn't stop my period like it was with everyone else, it has turned my blood brown and I can't deal with it because it makes me think that it's my bowel movements and its just very unhygienic and is totally defeating the reason why I had it, I wanted safe sex but now I can't have sex. so, Will it stop bleeding straight away if I have it out?

    Hi Thea,

I too had the implant and experienced near to constant bleeding of some sort. I left my implant in for over 3 years due to moving abroad for a while and the fear of getting it removed.

When I got back to the UK I went to my GP and she decided that even though the hormone had ran out it was best still to get the rod out my arm and the bleeding stopped almost immediately for me. The removal procedure is easy peasy but really the best person to speak to is your GP/sexual health nurse who put the implant in. They can advise how long it will take for your periods to go back to normal and recommend another more suitable form of contraception. xx

I honestly believe if you feel it is more pain to have the IUD then get it removed cause life is to short to be feeling upset about this & you need to still live & have a healthy sex life besides the fact that wearing pads or tampoons are super uncomfortable seriously. There are other opinions go to a good GP & ask question to re-decide this decision. All the best 😊 be happy 😉
