Will Lexapro work a second time.

I was on lexapro for 5 years until it pooped out on me, since then i have been on celexa. Total yrs on celexa 4. When I was on lexapro it was like there was nothing wrong with me at all and I would like to try it again because out of all the meds I have tried, it was the best one for me. Has any here tried to go back on a med that stopped working for them and had success with it a second time.

I'm in the same situation as you but with citalopram x I was changed to sertraline and mirtazipine and they were horrible so back on citalopram x if it's any help my gp and people said on here the meds feel like they poop out but actually just need a temporary increase rather than a switch. did you try that. as I'm on a higher dose than I was before and not much change yet x I'm 13 weeks on 30mg so thinking of increasing to 40mg which I have been on in the past x I do hear that they can work again a second time if there has been a break in between x it's hard to know what to do isnt it x

Thank you for reply, and yes I did increase lexapro and it was like I wasnt taking anything at all. I even gave it six weeks hoping it would work, but didnt even touch anxiety or panic attacks and not one side effect from increased dose. Doc said it was time to switch to citilopram. It is a hard decision but it might be worth it to feel 100 percent again.

6 weeks really isn't too long to tell especially if you were on it a while. in the past when I've increased it's taken more than 12 weeks to start to improve when originally it only took 4-6 weeks x that's good though because it might mean the higher dose of lexapro would work again x 😊

what dose of celexa are you on now? x
