Will my bladder problem ever be cured?

So this is my first time posting on any forum, I have had bladder pains for a good 7 years now and I'm starting to think this will be my life (I am currently 27).

This is a long story but I just wanted to know if anyone has similar problems to me. This all started when I had sex at 19, got a UTI, but at the time wasn't sure what the pain was and left it untreated for a long time, this was the start of daily pain.

My pain is highly correlated to how full/empty my bladder is, I don't get sudden urges to pee of much pain in my abdomen but my pain occurs straight after peeing and if I do not drink water straight away it will escalate, also if I don't drink enough water between the time I pee and the next time it causes horrific stinging, stabbing knife like pains in my bladder. I currently don't have a partner so sex doesn't come into it at the moment but when I do have sex a UTI is quite common straight after.

Like the rest of you I'm sure this effects your day to day life, I cannot relax, I'm constantly thinking if there is a toilet nearby, if I have water at hand, how long ago have I peed (as if I don't pee every 4 hours or so the pain occurs).

I have been been seen by countless urologists in which the last one said this was something I had to probably live with.

I'd love to hear from anyone that has similar symptoms like mine.

Melissa, I feel for you.  so young and having problems like us old guys.  I assume you are a woman?  I know a woman  that takes D-Mannose,daily.  It flushes the bladder out if there is e-coli bacteria living there.  You can buy it at a health food store. Try going on You Tube, and there's a ton of information on D-Mannose. Good luck!!!

I think this is quite common to some women. Try using a lubricating gel prior to sex and urinating then washing after, (gentle soap or liquid for that purpose).  A bit of a nuisance but may save you getting a uti again. Always drink plenty of fluids, cranberry juice is supposed to be good for this problem and you could dilute it a bit if it's too strong for you. Leave off coffee and tea unless they are de caff as they can irritate the bladder. Good luck. x rolleyes
