Will Sertraline work and when

Hello

Please can I ask about Sertraline.

I had a breakdown 6 months ago , work related. I was on Citalopran 25mg and started to see a difference, although the side effects were awful, 4 weeks ago I had a melt down and just couldn’t stop crying and thinking I didn’t want to be here !

Seen the crisis team who put me on Sertraline, started in 50mg whilst the Citalopran left my system and have now been in 100mg for 2 weeks , side effects but no where near as bad as Citalopran.

Still crying a lot , no energy or motivation, can’t leave the house without Diazipan and even then I’m just a passenger in the car !

How long should I wait to see if this will work for me ? Anxiety is definitely lower but misery and helplessness is terrible.

Any advice would be welcome as I used to be full of fun , out and about , busy job, now I have no job and don’t want to see people or do anything!

Hi Matt sorry to hear this but know exactly where you are coming from. I could shut myself away from the world. And I have always been an outgoing person. I'm luckily still working part time which i struggle to keep.as it's hard to deal with public. You will find normality again. Maybe not same as you were but some of it. Keep taking your meds you will start to feel a difference in the next few weeks. Good luck.

      Hi Maureen

Thanks for your reply . I keep waiting to feel better and get out of this house! I suppose it’s early days still as it’s been just over 2 weeks on 100mg.

Hi Matt I seen one of your replys saying you managed to get out a walk today. That's fantastic hopefully next time you can make it a little longer. It's a start. Well done x

Hang in there Matt. It takes 4-6 weeks to start noticing a difference. I am about 3.5 weeks in and I’m having more good days than bad. I felt the same way as you, not wanting to go out in public or go to work. I’m at work today, first time in 3 weeks and so far so good. You will get back to normal soon.
