Will they work ?

I was on cit for 3 years & gradually tapered off this year as felt better , however unfortunately the dreadful anxiety has returned. I am back on 10mg & have been for a week, but can anyone who had had this experience tell me how long it will take to make me feel better & if 10mg is enough. I have had so much help from you lovely people before & you have been a life saver, so i you don't mind me returning for help. thank you

hi Linda x I'm not sure how long its gonna take because it seems a lot of people go on it a second time it takes a lot longer to work for some reason. not sure why this is.

I'm on my second time of citalopram and am at 4 weeks 20mg and feel pretty dire tbh.

I think its because it takes longer x

it does work a second time I hear a lot of people. I would stay on 10mg for atleast 6 weeks then if no improvement increase but 10 will most likely work again so you might not need too 😊

Hi Linda I am a 3rd timer and into month 5 at varying doses. 2nd time around it took around 12 weeks to be well on the road to recovery. All the very best and remember everyone is different and every day could be a good day. I have had a really positive attitude towards healing the last few days. For me thats a sign they are working

I am in a very similar situation been on cit before for about 3 years felt great and decided its time to come off. I went of it slowly and was fine of it for about 7 months but then boom anxiety hit me sooo bad so i am back on it now. Last time i started with 20mg straight away, had horrible side effects. This time again started with 20mg horrible side effects for 2 weeks but most of them wore off Its been 4 weeks now, still some side effects though, appetite is still not back fully. I still have anxiety and low mood. So the medication will probably take longer time to work. Everyone is different, you might be one of those people who will recover within 2 weeks, but it is rare. I would say give the dose at least 8 weeks. If you recovered on 10mg last time then it might be enough this time too.
