Will this go away?

Hi, I've been changed from 40mg fluoxetine to 100mg sertraline. I've got to be honest, some of the things I've read are freaking me out!! I'm only on day three and for these three days I've had a constant migraine and insomnia. Will this eventually go away?

Thanks

    Hi Linda,

    Thanks for your post!

The dosage equivelantcy is exactly the same, 40mg Fluoxetine being equal to 100mg Sertraline.

Eveyone acts differently to SSRIs however, and I for example could not tolerate Fluoxetine, had constant gastrointestinal symptoms, feeling sick and insomnia.

Sertraline I had insomnia and that was it, sleeping pills cured that short term whilst it kicked in.

Yes, the side effects from SSRIs usually last 2 weeks, but can be up to 1 month.

If I was you I would go to my doctor to get a sleeping tablet and perhaps some Diazepam/Painkillers for short term use, whilst the SSRI kicks in.

I wish you the best of luck!

    You can do it!

    Thanks,

    Jake x

Thank you Jake, yes I'll do just that. I don't want to give up straight away. I feel absolutely awful, but sticking with it to give it a chance to work hopefully.

Hiya. Why are you changing from fluoxetine to Sertraline? I'm thinking of doing the opposite as have had better results with fluoxetine in the past.

Doc says my depression is getting worse along with some anxiety and doesn't think the fluoxetine is cutting it. He says sertraline is a more modern medicine and should give better results

    hi

sertraline is good but took 6 weeks for me , doc refused me sleeping pills , i used the one from tesco and they are perfect but seem strong  and knock me out for 8 hours, they are the 50mg ones, neausea was also another problem for me for 4-6 weeks on and off, and when off eating i got the perscription liquid drinks , cant remeber the name but if you need it ask me again and will find it out.

    take care
