Will this lump ever go down

13 weeks post op. 2nd day back at work and I'm really sore and swollen again.

I have done 5 hours work each day. My job involves lots of bending to put things on shelves. I am on light duties no lifting anything heavy. I have been told I can go and sit down whenever I want. This though is easier said than done because work colleagues think I'm Skiving and I feel like I'might letting them down by not pulling my weight.

I am just wondering when the swelling will stop and the soreness?

I'm 12 weeks and going back to work part time in 2 more weeks.  I was feeling great up until today when I think I may have overdone things a bit as feel a bit sore too.  I know what you mean about pullng your weight at work but I think you need to listen to your body - easier said than done I know - and just take the breaks as you need them.

I'm going to feel just like you though when I'm back to work I am sure but I am going to try and put myself first for the first time.

Aww good luck... thank goodness for this forum all the literature out there makes it seem as though you will be back to normal after 6 weeks which is just not realistic - I do understand we all heal at different rates etc and there is a range of different procedures etc.... Matron will probs give some great advice xx

I think you have to actually lay down for it to take the pressure off the pelvic floor.  Any chance you can bring an ice pack in?  If you are laying on the floor in the backdrop with your eyes closed, ice pack between your legs I think they will be more likely to be worried than anything else.

You are on light duty.  You aren't supposed to be able to accomplish as much as they are.  It's OK.

Autocorrect... I meant laying down in the back room.

Jolil, please be careful and take the breaks you need, after all its your own long term health that matters.

If you overdo things it will take even longer for deeper tissues to heal.

Try not to worry about what your colleagues think, they probably will want to help you get back to your full potential as soon as possible.

Rest plenty when you get home and only do the essential things you need to.

Take care, you will get there in the end

Good advice from others here jolil, realistically you should take a 10 minute break an hour, maybe get your feet up. It doesn't matter what your colleagues think - where will they be if you prolapse again and when you are at home in agony. Take it easy - your body is recovering from major surgery, and make sure 'light duties' are just that. Your body deserves this, so do you. Good luck with your continuing recovery.
