Will this nightmare ever end

This is my second barth marsupulisation in five months and i must admit i'm beginning to go stir crazy. The last surgery was eight weeks ago, the area is still slightly swollen and now totally disfigured as the surgeon went in from both the outside and inside to drain the effected area. My fear is that the cyst hasnb't gone away and that in the words of my surgeon the next step will be to have the gland removed which i'm told doesn't necessarily remove the problem.

This whole situation is starting to effect my everyday life as i'm constantly uncomfortable and paranoid that it's coming back. My husband is being totally supportive however after five months it's enough to test anyone's patience.

Please if anyone could a tell me how effective the removal of their gland has been or indeed whether this nightmare will ever end then i'd be eternally grateful.

Hi, I had what was thought to have been a BC in September 1997. It was marsupialized but recurred so often I was having an abscess every 3-4 weeks, I suspect you can imagine what that felt like! By accident almost, 5 years later I finally discovered that what I had was not a BC but abscesses caused by having a 'recto-vaginal fistula', not a gynae problem but one which is dealt with by a colo-rectal surgeon, try and get this line of enquiry checked out!

    Hi Reo

really interested to hear you have had experience to link your suspected b/c to fistulas, as i have ulcerative colitus and really suffer with b/c's i currently have a ileostomy which i thought might help but hasn't-will def ask my colo rectal surgeon about this possibility

thankyou for replying to the last post it really helps those of us who don't know where to go next
