Try buying 'over the knee socks' then you can place heat patches inside them.

The sort of heat patches you would stick on your back.

    Keep your knees toasty warm!

    Hope this may help.

    Best Wishes

Yeah...MOVE TO TEXAS!!!!!!!!  I had a hip replaced in NJ and the winter was a nightmare.  Both my knees were bone on bone so that was no fun either.  Moved to Fort Worth in June 2010 and not only did the hip issues disappear, but the SynVisc I was using on my knees was no longer necessary.  Went six years down here before needing the TKR.  The second knee is also an issue medically, but I have zero pain from it.  May not ever need the second TKR.  Plus I have the metal in my back from two spine fusions...4 1/2 pounds total.  Being in TX with the warm weather and lower humidity is WONDERFUL!!!!  Just don't go go Houston where the humidity is insane!  PS: Unemployment in the DFW area is almost non-existent.  Great place to work.

I didn't do it on purpose.  All the jobs in NJ disappeared in 2010 and my wife had children and grandchildren in Weatherford, TX, about 20 minutes west of Fort Worth.  Packed a truck and moved.  The side benefit was the warmth on my replaced hip.  Then with the two spine fusions and TKR on the knee, it has been much easier to deal with all the metal that being up north.  At this point, I can never move to a cold climate again...not possible.  Give it some though when the metal gives you problems.  Cheap housing, cost of living, no state income tax.  Fort Worth is very family-friendly; Dallas is more cosmopolitan and 45 minutes away.  The DFW airport is right between the two and cheap flights from Southwest Air run out of Love Field in Dallas. Not a bad move at all... and my metal stays nice and quiet...

I live close to Lake Erie and in the 3 years since my TKR, I have had no problems with the cold weather. All I can say is invest in leg warmers and hope the winter where you are isn't too bad. Good Luck!
