Wired hip

Posted , 4 users are following.

ok hipsters, heres my issues. I have had 4, yes 4, Total hip replacements. My second hip was replaced 11 years after it started to dislocate

My surgeon trained with a Dr who "developed" a technique which included using WIRES to wrap around the outside of the hip. I think stability was the purpose?

Now I know that some hipsters have had it removed for different reasons? It doesnt seem to have much funtion other than it was a technique that my Dr used

I have been suffering with Bursitics for many many years.

I am now facing having another procedure to remove these wires. Dr tells me its only take 5 minutes to snip wires.

I am looking and searchig for anyone who has had a simiiar situation and has it helped with the bursitics?

The issue is that these wires are irritating tendons and muscles areound the hip??  Who knows it this will help or not?

Hopefully someone can shed additional info or experience

Thank you for being so supportive. I

Never heard of this technique. In my case 2 screws were part of the THR design to hold the hip in place. When was his done?

wondering what will happen when the wire are removed. Keep me posted and hope all goes well

What did your surgeon tell you ? He proably won't guarantee anything, right?

    Is there an alternative?

I had a hip revision 11 months ago , at which time my Dr placed 5 wires around my hip. I now have pain around my upper pain , in the front and around the side. The muscles and tissue around my joint and upper leg are constantly tense, giving me constant discomfort. My PT has me constantly stretching to loosen everything up; however, no matter how much I stretch, I am still tense. Is it irritation from the wires? Maybe...but no one can tell me. If you have your wires removed Please Please Please email me if the procedure helps your pain and discomfort

I have yet to see my orthopedic dr to discuss it, as he is 7 hrs away from my location.

I know how you feel about them beating around the bush and not knowing if surgery will help. My last surgery was a revision of an implant that failed to bond with my bone. The docs were confident that a revision would fix my problem. I now how the same symptoms , if not worse, as before my revision . Ughhhhh
