Hi Jenny. I have been taking 2 x 20mg for a couple of years, having had the dose slowly increased over time. I find it helps to lessen the mood swings, but not stop them completely. I was fortunate not to have any discernable side effects, lucky me! The anxiety was still there though, so I was put on Propanalol last year & it has helped greatly. Did your GP tell you to come off them, I would think the best way would be to reduce it to 1 x 10mg for a month or so then come off, but not cold turkey. How long have you been taking them?

If you only took 2 tablets it shouldn't have caused you such bad problems. I believe it takes 36 hours to come out of your system. I suffer bad side effects at first but they go after about a week and do help anxiety. Propranolol are also good but I'm trying without as they made me put weight on.

Hey Amy. I didn't know Propanalol put weight on. I have gained quite a bit lately. Can't pin it down to any time line, as I take meds for a number of problems. I will look into it. It has helped with my anxiety though.

Yes they can make you gain weight especially around your tummy? Lost 4 pounds as soon as I stopped taking them and my belly went flatter. They are good I might end up back on them to be honest and just deal with my weight x

Thanks Amy. Yes, around the tummy is where it is, quite a lot of it actually sad

Sorry to give you the bad news! If they help then it's worth it, hoe long have you been on them?

Hahaha!! Not your fault, amy. I have actually lost 2lb since tuesday razz, so it's a start. I take quite a few tabs for arthritis, gout, fibromyalgia & cervical spondylytis. As well as hi BP. I don't think any of them have given me bad side effects. I'm either lucky, or too thick to notice! sad. Ibuprofen gave me stomach pains, because my apetite has been a little erratic. I now take paracetamol instead. I'm surprised I have room for food with taking all these pills!! rolleyes. x

Always good to lose a couple of pounds. My stomach isn't right at all since starting citalopram again and u have felt sick daily for 2 weeks. Ibuprofen don't agree with my stomach either and give me bad acid, so I just stick to paracetamol.

How are you doing amy? Are you using anything for the anxiety?

I'm not too bad thank you, still on the citalopram for anxiety. How are you?

I have had a few really good days thanks amy. Took advantage of the nice weather. My joint problems give me bad mobility, along with the fibro, which causes terrible tiredness. I am looking to loosing weight as a means of taking the strain off my joints & the excercise [walking] should help with the depression

I didn't find the citilopam helpfull for the anxiety, I hope you have better results than I have. Do you work? I am happily retired a while ago because of my health.

I'm 25 and work part time. I have a 3 year old so I have to try my best to get on with things.

I'm sorry to hear about your health. I have started walking which really helps me. I will build up to other things when I can be bothered!!

Anxiety is a really powerful thing it had taken over my life for the last 18 months, but I'm hoping to beat it eventually.

      Good luck to you!

Difficult with a young-un. Do you have any help? I do admire your "get on with it" attitude. It will stand you in good stead. Yes, anxiety has caused me loads of trouble, like pulling out of arrangements with friends at the last minute. Talk if you like. Take care. Lee.

Yes my husband helps out a lot with my daughter. I think he is fed up of me on the other hand! I try to avoid going out these days unless I really have to. Drinking doesn't really agree with me anymore. I get anxious about something happening to me. Stupid really. Thanks Lee!

I hope your hubby isn't fed up with you, but I have to say, it did cause friction between my wife & myself, it can be difficult for the other one to cope with. My wife & I separated 11 years ago, this was just one of the reasons. The Propanalol really helped me, but it took a few weeks to work. No one tablet, or dose will suit all, you just have to experiment, as it were. Good luck & keep in touch if you like. Lee.
