Withdrawal or bp related?

I quit smoking almost a week ago.by coincidence just before I was diagnosed with hypertension.I am feeling light headed and weak in the legs for the first part of the day.I wonder if this is bp related or withdrawal or both plus I am just recovering from flu

Although 35 years have gone by since I gave up a heavy smoking habit I can still remember the withdrawal symptons - I was very light-headed at first  and felt very wobbly!

I'm not a smoker, so I don't have the experience about withdrawal symptoms, but thought I'd add a little side note to the previous comments.

In addition to autumn.witch's comment about withdrawal symptoms, blood pressure can be higher first thing in the morning, just because of your natural circadiun rhythm and the release of the hormones adrenaline and noradrenaline when you first get up.

Doing things to naturally help your body out can only help your body recover from whatever is going on, in addition to your medication. This can include limiting your sodium, and making sure you're getting enough potassium. Some really good foods for lowering your blood pressure are oatmeal, celery (it actually helps your blood vessels relax, so is worth it even if you don't like it, like I didn't), and raisins just to name a few. Also make sure you're getting enough sleep, and find ways to lower stress. Sometimes that is just making a choice not to get upset over little things.

Good luck with the smoking withdrawal! I know that's hard to do from seeing others go thru it! Hope you feel better soon! : )
