Withdrawal symptoms

Hello everyone,
I've now managed to get down to 6 mgs preds, without to many problems. But for the past few days I've been feeling really ill in the morning. I wake felling sick followed by diarrhoea, hot flushes .
I assume this is due to withdrawal symptoms? I've now been on preds for 12 months, i have joint pain but generally can live a normal life, walks and swimming so feel myself lucky. Has anyone any suggestions how to get through this?
I've been careful to taper slowly and hate the idea of going back, particularly as i begin to feel better by lunchtime.

Hi Eileen
I've tapered down over the last month from 7 down to six, i was OK at 7mg. This week i had my last 7 on Saturday, and the problem had really set in from Monday.
At 7 mg I had aches and joint pain but this was helped with pain relief. It's now 11.30 and my stomach gripes are subsiding, obviously the 6 mg kicking in,
I'll have a blood test tomorrow, last month the inflammation still low but my cholesterol very high at 8.2 ( I've taken statins for 20 years, we have familial high cholesterol) but not had above 5.3 for years. Also my thyroid reading on the low side, maybe these are all signs of the adrenal glands not working correctly? I'll let you know next week.

if you feel worse and it doesn't appear to be "just" a stomach upset, do please consider taking 7mg at least every few days - if it is adrenal insufficiency then it should improve over a couple of weeks as your body catches up but if you get worse then you could end up very unwell if you try to force things to stick at 6.

Sounds more like stomach problems that withrawal symptoms.
I'm having a few at the moment (going from 5 mg to 3 1/2mg - slowly, slowly)! I feel dreadfully tired and ache. I've been here before, but hope I persevere this time.
Keep us informed - and good luck.

Hi Constance
This is my first time at 6 mg, and i would hate to have to go back. By lunchtime I'm feeling a lot better, obviously the preds kicking in. Take care, it's very depressing to feel so rotten.
