You are right to be concerned Jocelyn, especially about the weight loss. You may over very sensitive to this drug and should talk this over as a matter of urgency with your GP or Consultant.

The twitches and muscle spasms are a side effect and you may like to try Magnesium Citrate or Malate to counter these. I take 600mg up to 800mg daily and find that it works for me and the twitches/spasms practically go away completely. If they start up again I just take the extra 200mg daily until they stop. We no longer get Magnesium from the soil so our vegetables and all soil grown foods are depleted in this essential mineral which our bones need and also it aids sleep. If the twitches occur at night you could try Magnesium Oil spray, directly on the area affected and just massage it in. This works well and within 5/10 mins I can get back to sleep. Tablet form or oil is available on Amazon from various suppliers.

Again, I urge you to see your Doctor regarding the weight loss as most patients seem to put a lot of weight on whilst on Amitriptyline. I hope this is helpful to you and you feel much better soon.
