Hi I have had lower back problems for 40 years. CT scan show probs with lower 4/5 / 6 vertebral discs as being degenerated. I also have sciatica down left leg which also radiates to foot with numbness in last two toes.I have had spinal injections, facet injections and I am on 9 Gabapentin, 8 Marol and 8 paracetamol per day. I have put up with this pain for more years than I can remember, but now both my feet are feeling like I am walking on hot coals. The pain is constant and I find walking painful. I have just had enough of all this pain day in day out, with all the injections and pain meds not giving me any relief. I have been to the doctor and they say there is nothing surgically they can do as 3 discs are degenerated and are together making surgery difficult.

There's always something they can do especially in this day and age, they more or less gave up on me to . I had my doctor referr me to a great neurosurgeon at a private hospital via the nhs,so far things have been great and I am scheduled to have another discectomy and spacers put in between my veritibrates. They can give u new discs spinal fusion and all sorts these day s. Those injection s do more harm that good in the long run, they never worked for me. Iam 40 I e suffered 25 with my bck. Push for a new consultant a neurosurgeon

I would push for a second opinion also, there's no way you should be left to suffer in this way, good luck

I would seek another opinion.. Find a surgeon who does restorative surgery, not just regular back surgery. Restorative surgeons are used to doing difficult surgeries. They do surgeries that other surgeons wont do, or correction of other surgeons mistakes. I had a surgeon ignore a surgical problem. I found a surgeon who fixes other surgeons mistakes and the surgery was auccessful.I heard the same story of "difficult" but that sometimes is a doctors way of saying he or she lacks the skill necessary. DONT GIVE UP.
