Wobbles

Posted , 10 users are following.

So I am 5 weeks and 2 days and having a wobble of a day.

I am doing well with the exercises, even the clam is getting 'easier', but I do still feel it stretch the groin and too of thigh. Though I am sure the operated area has still a slight bruise and feels swollen.

And I know it relatively early days still, but I am still limping unaided. I also struggle to stand on operated without holding on.

However, when using two sticks walking is a pleasure and I can now walk well.

All I want to do as well is stand in the shower but being a shortie, I will not be able to clear the bath as I get in to it.

I kind of feel like I have hit a brick wall at the moment.

you sound as though you are doing brilliantly . only 5 weeks and if hip pain has gone that is great .

it takes a year to fully heal so 5 weeks is nothing .

i was doing well but think that i have pulled something maybe hamstring as i had a family crisis and had to walk a long way much earlier than planned and now have pain behind knee and thigh after walking so stay calm and remember little steps x

I hope your hamstring is better soon, have you tried putting ice on it and I hope that family stuff is all sorted.

I think I had a bit of a melt down, but it will be ok, physio tomorrow and they check your unaided walking each week! I walk out with sticks but do some practice at home unaided.

Yes we all recover differently and will remember that.

    Hi

Don't worry it will get easier, I learnt to sit on the bath and swivel round on the side. U only need to stay at 90 degrees its the best way. Your muscles are still very weak it can takes months to build them back up even over a year now I still have muscle issues. I'm getting mine redone in 4 weeks as its in at an angle and I have a leg length issue. 6 months is better I was on my exercise bike and that helped loads. Do a few small hill walks 5-10 mins is more than enough early on. Up to 3 months is so hard but before you know it your be back to normal. Good luck x

Thank you for all you advice, so muscle is still tight so have been given more stretches and will do a bit of home massage on it to. If its still the same next week they will do some massages too for me.

Hi, been following your progress - my op been put back but scheduled for this Saturday now. Looking forward to the start of a better life, hopefully. Had a touch few years and now living alone and hoping I'm going to cope with minimal outside help. We all hit blips and meltdowns but we WILL get over them and on with our lives. Just think of when you can get in that bath and have that shower! Bliss. I'm lucky to have a walk in shower. Haven't had a bath (literally and factually) for over ten years and don't miss it. Hope the stiffness improves rapidly, your walking seems to be coming on well. Take care.

Thank you for your reply. I do actually feel great within myself. Glad to be rid of the dreadful arthritic pain that I had before. Apart from the the problems with the muscles, its all gone well. I am happy to be using both crutches until my muscle is strong enough to let me do it on its own.

Good luck when its your turn, and just remember we all heal differently. As for me, I am determined to walk properly again.

early days still so hang in there,

Rome wasn't built in a day! You're doing really well I think!

I am 6 months in now and feel fab!

Didn't have any physio at all - just did what I thought helped and didn't try to be too cocky.

    good luck,
