Womb Cancer resulting in full hysterectomy at 52yrs old

Posted , 6 users are following.

Hi my names Luci

I was wondering if there was anybody on this site that has gone through Stage 1 womb cancer resulting in having a full hysterectomy (keyhole surgery)

I'm 6 weeks into recovery, and do feel pretty good, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to further my recovery and well-being as I'm feeling very unfit and quite emotional. I was post-menopausal before operation so I was experiencing severe menopause symptoms but touch wood only experiencing hot flushes now, or can the emotional side be menopause symptom?

I would love any advice or experiences that anyone else was or are going through, Thank you

Hi Luci, sorry to hear you are going through this. I don't really have any advice as it's not something I have experience of, but just to say it must be completely normal to feel emotional after what you've been through. Menopause definitely messes with your emotions but I think being teary is more likely when you're peri because your hormones are bouncing around so much. I know the Macmillan cancer site has forums for people to chat on, maybe you can get some suggestions on there to aid your recovery? Anyway, wanted to wish you all the best x

    Hi Luci,

Wishing you well in your recovery!

The emotional symptoms can most definitely be because of menopause.

I have not had surgery (yet), and feel like I have been through the emotional wringer for the past year (have had 5 spotty periods in the last 12 months), in addition to the physical symptoms.

Sometimes crying all the time, sometimes angry all the time, sometimes brain feels out of touch...

I haven't found a reliable method of staying steady myself yet, but will report back here if I do.

    Take care,

    Sara

I didn't have cancer, but 2 very large fibroid tumors. I was 33, I'm now 54. I kept my ovaries and wish now I didn't. But I was elated to get rid of it and all the bleeding those tumors caused. However, I'm in full blown menopause bc of keeping my ovaries, I'm emotional, numb, anxiety at an all time high, hot flashes, night sweats, health anxiety over the issues I already had, terrified to leave my house bc I don't like being around people any more, thinking hair at an alarming rate and a host of a million more symptoms including vaginal atrophy. My best advise is take it one day at a time. Try not to let it overwhelm you.

I'm so sorry you have to go thru all this at once. Just remember you're not alone! We can all relate in one way or another and are here if you need an ear!

Pamper yourself and rest when your body tells you to!

      Hi, hope your ok,

For quite a lot of months my energy levels were very low, I normally lived an active life working on my farm, also nearer my diagnosis I had pressure when I stood around my hips and Pelvis, and needing to wee very frequently, about every two hours through the night (very annoying) hence feeling always tired.

When I look back I'm sure these were symptoms, but the reason I went to the doctors was'nt these symptoms. I had a very small spotting of blood ( having not had a period for over two years) I was sent for ultra sound straight away and then biopsy, which basically saved my life.

I can honestly say I haven't felt so much better in years, since my operation, whether your having symptoms or not and your worried get yourself checked out

      Hope this answer helps x
