Won esa appeal

Hi guys after winning my appeal and put in support group, dwp said I was on ib esa, so I wasn't entitled to any backdated esa ,or entitled to esa full stop.I have had to argue with them over this ,knowing full well I was on cb esa.anyway yesterday I got a phone call and they said their manager/supervisor has checked it all,and she has issued a payment dating back from beginning of march till now,and it should clear in 3 working days.when a payment has been issued does that mean I will definitely get it.After all this arguing with them, I'm so very dubious whether I will defo get it or not.she said it has taken so long because it's for a large sum of money.I hop them saying it has been issued defo means I will get it,and they don't change their minds.

    Hi Kat,

Great news on winning your appeal. OK, a few questions to try to help you to make sure you're getting paid the correct sum of money.

1/ Do you live alone, or have a partner that works?

2/ when did you first claim ESA?

The reasons i'm asking this is if you live alone then you'll be able to claim an Income Based top up on your CB ESA with a premium added. If you have a partner that works then you won't be able to claim the premium added on, therefore this will affect the amount of ESA you have.

ESA assessment rate is for the first 13 weeks of a claim. Then because you've been put into the Support Group you'll be paid the Support Group aount from week 14 of your claim. If you anwer those questions i'll be able to help you further.

To answer your question, no they won't change their minds and the backdated payment is your that you'll receive in those 3 wrking days. You'll then recieve your ESA money every 2 weeks.

Lol yh sorry I meant IR esa.hi Denise I have always got cb esa because my partner works full time.dwp have told me they have issued payment amount of £3,500.that has been backdated to biginning of march.if they say it's been issued does that mean payment has been released,if so when will this money show up in my account.or will it not show up until it clears.if they say it's been issued does this mean I will defo get it

Ok thanks for that. There's one thing that concerns me here. That payment amount seems an awful lot of money if it's just from begining of March this year. From March 1st to 13th September is 29 weeks @ £109.65 (which is ESA CB support group weekly amount) No premiums added because not entitled to the Enhanced disability premium because of partner working full time. This would give you a total of £3109.85 PROVIDING that you haven't been recieving any money at all since begining of March. Have you been recieving any money since March from DWP, like CB ESA assessment rate? As this is normally paid while waiting for a Tribunal, unless you recieved 365 days of assessment rate ESA before your original decision was made. Sorry for all the questions it's just that i know what DWP are like for not telling the truth in the amount they say. I don't want you thinking it's that amount when it's not.

So Denise what does issued payment actually mean?has payment been sent to my bank account

Then by my calculations they're about right, because ESA is paid in arears. Issued payment means it's been sent to your bank and will be recieved in 3/4 working days. They're usually spot on when they tell you what day you'll recieve it too. Sounds like wednesday will be a great day for you then. Take that money, go and treat yourself and your family because you deserve it after going since March with any. Fantastic news, well done, very please for you!! biggrin Hope i've helped make your smile bigger today? xx
