If your private and personal information has been discussed with others at work then I suggest you find out who had access to your file and who leaked the info! That is a sackable offence! Don't let it go! Get your union on to it, or go direct to H R ASAP. Nothing but a disgrace!

Thank you for your reply It was management, my work colleagues know more details about the complaint than I do I'm supposed to be going back to work on Thursday feeling sick at the thought I don't think I'm strong enough to return, going to take out a grievance now against the persons who informed a work colleague the day before I was told a complaint had been made about me feels like I'm being kicked when I'm already down

Don't go back to work if you are not ready. Worry won't help your condition! Just make sure you have support and don't let those ignorant people get away with it! Stay strong!

Absolute ditto what ruari just said ; take it further & stay strong minded. use your union rep to support you in taking it further. if you are not well enough to return to work - go back to your doctor for another certificate & ask them to write a supporting letter about your condition of colitis for your employer/HR asap. what is happening to you is totally unacceptable. what if one of your delightful managers had colitis? would they be being treated like some sort criminal? You do not have to put up with this behaviour from your employers. don't let them get away with it. xx

Hi, I'm so pleased for you Virgo. You have been through dreadful experience. Hopefully now your employers will be more accomodating & understanding of your condition. Make sure you continue taking medication even when you are in remission to maintain your remission. Did your employers seem genuinely considerate & understanding of your condition & the implications of colitis when you had your meetings? Do you feel more at ease with them knowing more about it now? I sincerely wish you all the best. Take good care of yourself. xxx

Hello thank you for your message, I'm happy to tell you that my manager has allowed me to reduce my working hours until I'm feeling full of beans again. I think the flare and most of all the stress I was feeling has had an impact on my health I'm now working in the office and waiting for another referral to occupational health I have learnt an important lesson health has to come before work I pray I and all of us with colitis make it to the loo in time I will continue to log in to this forum to see how you are doing and to replies to new members thanks again xxx
