worried !!

I am 54 female usually fit and healthy not overweight good diet and excercise . I have over the last 5-6 years experienced left sided abdo pain resembling stitch along left side of my transverse colon and descending colon . during these episodes I would have urgency after eating but mainly constipated . I have had bloods in the last 3 years and pelvic scan all of which were normal and I was told IBS. I seemed to have these flare ups a few times a year lasting 2-3 weeks and then my symptoms would resolve .

Three weeks ago i began to get similar symptoms always starting as a slight stitch in my left abdomen and again a flare up stitch pain going to my groin and in leg ,constipation however this time has been the worse and ended up in A&E had bloods again all normal . I was seen by consultant who said my tummy was soft and I looked well . I have been booked for a colonoscopy to confirm diagnosis . This time I have experienced terrible nausea and still 3 weeks down the line have constant pain . Terrified I have bowel cancer although no bleeding or weight loss . Just want to share my story as Im really frightened . I have not been prescribed antibiotics as bloods normal . I have been prescribed codeine and paracetamol but not really helping a hot water bottle relieves it a little and obviously anxiety does not help so been doing yoga , and mindfulness. I am currently self isolating so feeling more anxious I am a cold water swimmer but cant get out to do that , I know that would help me !

thank you for this site would be so grateful if anyone else has experienced similar. My Grandpa had diverticular disease and i am aware it can be genetic .

best wishes and hope people are ok

Hi I am 49, walk every day, yoga, eat a healthy diet, never smoked and don't drink! I have been suffering abdominal complaints now for a couple of years with numerous trips to the doctors with the same symptoms - severe pain in my left lower abdomen followed by a few days of overall cramping which then goes away for a few months and then returns. I've even contacted 111 twice over weekends due to such severe pain - I've been told it's kidney stones, a virus, IBS and possibly diverticulitis. I've had blood taken on several occasions checking Full Blood Count, Inflammatory Levels etc but never sent for a scan. The last bout of symptoms resulted in higher than usual inflammatory levels but they went back down. I have been in a lot of pain and discomfort since my last flare up of symptoms for a few weeks now - bloating on and off, heavy feeling in abdomen, period type pains, sharp stitch type pain in left lower abdomen which is fairly constant but times when it appears to settle, constantly needing a wee and pain in my back and left thigh. I can't work out what the problem is - gynaecological, digestive or kidneys.

I am terrified and have periods of real anxiety but they are finally listening and am going for a transvaginal scan next week to check ovaries and scan to check kidneys.

Yoga and Essential oils are helping to calm my anxiety!

It is good to find this site to see that you're not alone and that others are experiencing the same issues.
