WORRIED

Hi everybody. I'm new to this particular forum but just looking for abit of advice. About a week ago i noticed a small bump at the back of my tongue. Unfortunately i'm a smoker (please don't judge) 51 yr old female. It is completely painless, doesn't affect my eating, talking etc, just annoying at times. I've been to see my gp & he said that it was some kind of gland that was abit swollen but he did say that if it doesn't go away in 2 weeks i have to have a biopsy done. I asked him if it could be a cancer & he said he can't be sure but doesn't think so. However, i'm still abit scared that this could be a potential cancer starting. Am also on my way to giving up smoking as this may be the wake up call i need. Has anybody else had an experience with this kind of thing? & what was the outcome.? Thanks in advance.
