Worried about DVT

Hi everyone.

I'm really worried about DVT.

For six months I have had shortness of breath not from doing anything in particular even when lying down.

I got a chest X-Ray and it showed nothing abnormal.

Iv had bloods done which show normal clotting.

But I'm still getting this dull achy burning feeling in my chest.

My calf hurts from time to time but no heat or visible signs.

Iv had a heart scan, chest x_rays and bloods.

Iv it was DVT would this have been picked up in any of the above tests.

Bare in mind this has been for around 6 months.

Please help I feel o have no one to turn to.

I would think one of those tests would have showed it but what it is is a question

X-rays will not pick up a blood clot but an ultrasound will see if you have had or do have one in your leg.  A CT or MRI is needed to ascertain whether or not you have an embolism.  Talk to your doc.  Don't take no for an answer and if your doc is unwilling, find one who cares enough to take your concerns seriously.  I went 17 months undiagnosed, instead told I had anxiety.  That is doc speak for "well, I can't find anything wrong (even tho I didn't look very hard...) and since you are a woman, it must be anxiety."  I was hospitalized and was assigned a cardiologist and when he found my heart to be perfect, he totally dismissed me even tho I was in horrible pain and my normal blood pressure, which is about 99/67, was 189/98.  My oxygen levels were so low the alarm kept going off and after 3 times and my O2 dropping to 75%), a nurse turned the machine off and said it "must be broken).  And this is at a great hospitals!!  Not uncommon for PE's to not be diagnosed early even tho it is relatively common.  Good luck, I wish you the best.  Advocate for yourself and if you cannot, get a family member or good friend to be at all doc apps with you.  Write all symptoms may meds, etc., down before you ever get to the office.  It is too easy to forget things once you are there.

Shorness of breath can be caused my several things including heart failure and COPD but I should imagine your tests have ruled those out also.  Another major cause of shortness of breath is "over breathing" caused by anxiety.  Over breathing causes the feeling that your lungs cannot completely fill and can cause pain in the chest due to over use of the muscles.  I would go back to your doctor as if it caused by anxiety, all this worry is making it worse.

    Hello

A deep vein thrombosis is a clot in the deep veins of the legs. It will usually be picked up by a duplex ultrasound scan of the   leg veins done by a suitably experienced radiologist or vascular ultrasound technician.

A DVT will not be picked up by a heart scan or a chest X Ray.

Some blood tests (such as a D Dimer level) can suggest the presence of DVT if they are elevated, but they can be elevated in several other medical conditions as well, so are not as specific as a Duplex ultrasound scan.Hope this is helpful
