Do you have an ME specialist or GP who diagnosed you? If so, can they speak to the surgeon and anesthesiologist? I'm sure others on this forum who've had surgery will be able to advise you. I think most of the people on this forum are in the U.K, and it's around midnight there. So if you're in the U.S., for instance, you'll probably get response tomorrow. Good luck with the surgery.

    Hi

I worried myself sick over a throat operation

     I have ME and Fibromyalgia.

I went in and had appointment with the anaesthetist beforehand to tell them about my concerns.i had to be sedated on going in as I got myself in such a state.

Then the whole thing was fine!!!

The op went well. I didnt feel a thing

I came round without being sick.

I had about a week afterwards in bed but they had said to allow more time to recover.

Do you know what kind of growth?

I have a friend I play bridge with and she is older and she went thru an unnecessary thyroid removal due to what her doc said were deposits on her thyroid.

Turns out for many many years her very ignorant MD told her to suck on Tums for her calcium support, WRONG ADVICE, this Tums caused calcium deposits on her thyroid and then the other doc advised to have thyroid removed....

Wrong move, she found out after it was done....she lost so much of her voice and the fact it should have never been done, good grief....

These support groups are so great in that we can share our stories and MAYBE help others.

Any surgery is rough, but with ME and FM, even rougher. And is it truly necessary.

For me, I take Armour thyroid support since 2002 and take Iodine daily for thyroid health as well. The thyroid is a whole other BIG ISSUE.

I had some nodules probably 10 yrs ago or so and don't know what the status is now....they were small and I think many folks have nodules but surgery isn't always necessary, probably not necessary a lot.

So another opinion or if this is really necessary then you'll do what you will do. Now if it's a cancer, then that's a whole other story.

Just be sure after all is said and done to get ENOUGH thyroid support to aid with what you have lost.

Thanks everyone, I do not know if it is cancer or not. It is necessary due to the size as it is effecting my swallowing and breating. It is also growing quickly 2cm in 6 weeks.
