Worried about hip replacement

I am having sharp shooting pains in my inner groin and dull pain on my outer hip. The MRI revealed AVN and laberal tears. Questions:- I am still to find a surgeon, however did anyone else have similar shooting pains prior to hip replacement.

Second question: There are so many negative stories on this forum of sub par recovery, its got me worried! Overall I was under the impression that Hip replacement is one of the most successful operations. It does not sound this way from reading the forum.

    Hi Tony I am nearly 8 weeks post op THR of the right hip. I didn't have AVN or tears and I did not have the shooting pains you mention but pain in the general area of the hip and groin.

    Regarding your second question I am very relieved and glad that I had the THR. It is a big op but, as you say, it is one of the most successful. I am making progress although I am not patient and it's not as fast as I would like.! I have some groin pain now but it's manageable and from reading posts on here sounds quite common and usually passes.

    I am now scheduled for a THR of the left hip and I will be glad to have this done.

    I must confess to avoiding the forum as the posts really worried me too. However, it's been said on this forum that those of us who are doing alright are not posting and it's mainly the users who have problems who are.
