Worried about Mum

Hi everyone, I’m starting to worry about my mum for about 5-6 weeks now my mum has been having pain after eating anything in her abdominal, she went to the doctors for bloods and they phoned her to say her pancreas levels have slightly increased, she got a letter through yesterday for an ultrasound 18th this month, does anyone know what this could be? I’m terrified of the C word. She has no other symptoms except those stated above ( she has also got cystic fibrosis) thank you

A CT would be clearer, if the ultrasound doesn't give a conclusive result have her request a CT.

There is a relationship between cystic fibrosis and pancreatitis.  It's not uncommon for someone with cystic fibrosis to experience digestive issues because of the sticky mucous produced.  The mucous prevents the pancreas from functioning properly and can cause infections as well.

The pancreas help digest our food and if it's not able to do it's job properly it can cause your Mum's symptoms.

She may experience less pain if she eats small low fat meals 4-6 times a day rather than 3 large meals.  A low fat diet really does help and is necessary when the pancreas isn't working properly.  No alcohol at all, no smoking either.

Deal with what you know right now, stress can cause symptoms and also make whatever the problem is, worse.

A gastroenterologist who specialises in the pancreas might be her next step if it is her pancreas.  They know more about the pancreas than regular gastro's.

Could be gallstones. Not sure. What did CT and US say?
