Worried about pains in pelvic area and groin

Hi New to this. Hope someone can help.

I had a hysterectomy 2 yrs ago due to a large fibroid.  It was done vaginaly. For the last year i have been having mild period like pains that have got worse over the last couple of months. Stabbing like pains in my right side and in my groin and down my leg. Also on my left but not as bad. My whole lower body from just below my belly button to my legs has a dull ach as though i have done a work out. some days worse than others. Just stiff i suppose. I do have quiet a strenuos job but even if i take it easy i get pains. Went dr about 9 mths ago and she said she suspected  adhesions and basically there was nothing can be done. But like i say it has now got worse i googled my symptons and ovarian cysts keeps comming up. Does anyone else have pains like this. Thanks for any help

Could be adhesions but equally could be cysts. Get a referral to a gynaecologist and an ultrasound scan of the ovaries should show if there are cysts or not. This may need to be a transvaginal one and they usually have to be asked for by a gynaecologist

Can i do that if my dr does not suggest it. Took me forever to get sorted when i had my Fibroid. Dr just said try this try that for about 18mth then decided oh yeah maybe we need to sort this lol. Really dont need to go down that road again. Thats why i have put going to see him. But getting a bit worried now.

Demand a referral to a gynaecologist, your Dr cannot refuse as it is your legal right. You may find them more willing to listen and helpful.

      Best wishes and big hugs

Hi .I suffer with cysts and I also suffer with adhesions...I must say the adhesions can be pretty nasty. I get the aching feeling to feeling like someone's just stabbed me with a sharp knife ..they can take my breath away.. I would persist with your doctor. But before you do keep a diary for a month maybe, inclued a pain scale, describe where the pain is and keep a note of as much as you can .i assume you still have your ovaries so it would be advisable to chase this as there is a natural process for the healing after a hysterectomy but for you to be experiencing this pain persistently is not good, particularly as you do have a strenuous job. Also although a vaginal hysterectomy leaves less scaring you will still have a fair amount inside..  Doing a strenuous job can make you feel like you have a dragging sensation when moving around.. Good luck Cathy and I hope you can find out what's causing this. Kind regards Sal

And yes you can ask for a scan.. Insist that you want one..as you know your own body best and something is causing this and you would like to discuss it with a specialist ..good luck x

Well saw my Dr and he felt y tummy and did an internal and on what he felt has decided to do blood tests. He has booked me a scan and a referal. Idid not even have to ask. Just worried now rolleyes

Hi Cathy, so glad you saw the dr. Yesterday. Try not to worry yourself too much the ball is rolling, the bloods will show up any abnormalities and the scan will find anything . So all is good. Try and concentrate on the fact that notice has been taken now,and it won't be long until your mind is eased and you will know what the problem is. It's far easier to deal with something, when you know what it is you are dealing with.. You where brave enough when you had the fibroid and had to have a hysterectomy ..please don't worry ,you may have a little cyst in the ovary or it could be adhesions from your op...if they find it is adhesions the best advice I can put your way is to take up a gentle stretching exercise ..it helps with adhesions somewhat...good luck and let me know how you are doing. Kind regards Sally..

The bloods should be back at your doctors within 3 days so don't be worrying. You can always call the surgery for the results. But make a follow up appointment with your practice nurse if you have any concerns. Best wishes Sally x
