Worried About Pulmonary Embolism

Posted , 9 users are following.

I'm 30, female, Hypthyroid (medicated), PCOS, don't drink, never smoked, sedentary lifestyle (work at home) and suffer with anxiety and depression, and I'm on Propranolol 80mg slow release (they are a beta blocker) for my anxiety.

Anyway, last week I've felt a little short of breath, a little restricted in my upper chest area and throat. Sometimes I get like little shocks across my chest, but it lasts a second and it's gone.

My back left shoulder blade is very sore and tender too.

I ha e a terrible fear of blood clots and I'm really scared about Pulmonary Embolisms, and I wanted to ask somewhere about my breathing, I'm frightened it could be a PE?

I seen my doctor Wednesday, who took my blood pressure, and listened to my chest and back with a stethoscope and said all sounded fine. So I don't know, any advice?

I was having breathing problems for 3 weeks before my PE struck. I went to my doctor who was going to send me to a pulmonary Dr. on Thursday. I ended up in the emergency room that very same day. I thought I had pulled a muscle in my upper right back. As the day went on the pain became STABBING. My husband took me to the emergency room and they ran a CT scan. It revealed a blood clot in my right lung with damage in the lower area. I, too, never smoked, drank, was very active and super healthy before all this hit.

I would encourage you to get your meds checked and be diligent with your health. Good luck!

The aching back shoulder blade I've had for months now, so not sure about that. Sorry to hear you went through that, they must have had an idea you had it though if you're doctor was already sending you to see a specialist. Glad it all got sorted for you.

Have you had an ECG (EKG) done ? I'm only guessing here, and I'm not a doctor but the way you are describing these "zaps" I'd be asking your GP about the beta blocker medication

Hi! Last ECG I had was 2 months ago or so, I've quite a few this year as I was having bad anxiety episodes. All were normal. I had a 24 hour heart monitor about a month ago, which came back normal also. So, not sure if that counts in anyway?

I had seen my doctor last Wednesday about my breathing, and he checked my blood pressure and then just listened to my chest and back, said it all sounded fine. So, again, not sure if that helps in anyway?

My back left shoulder pain I've had for months on and off, I work at home, and I have a terrible habit of slouching my shoulders forward, and because I've been so stressed and anxious and panicky over the last few months, I get a lot of aches and pains everywhere.

I don't get the zaps very often, maybe once now and then out of the blue, and then it's gone as fast as it came. I'm also struggling with a stuffy/congested nose or something, it constantly gets (how can I say...crusty inside lol?) and like the back of it is "full" or something?

I don't know, I just get incredibly panicky about these things, especially PE's and blood clots.

      Thanks for replying!

Hi Im also super concerned about PE. Ive had calf pain and chest pain for 3 weeks now. Ive been to the er 3 times and they have ran 2 d dimer tests, which is supposed to detect a blood clot anywhere in your body and they did 2 ultrasounds on my leg... And cuz both were negative, they refuse to give me a ct scan. Could all this be anxiety?? Its been 10 days since last post... Original poster.... How are you feeling now??
