Was wondering if you can advise me. I have been taking setraline for 4weeks for ptsd. I have been having breathing problems not major just a bit breathless and also skin irritation, headaches now starting and dihorrea (sorry about Mis spelling). Is this normal in the beginning

Hi Deborah, I never had the headaches or the diarrhea, but both are possible side effects, I did have shortness of breath always taking deep breaths, yawning, jittery, they lasted about 4 weeks doc moved me to 100mg, and it really helped, I'm in week 9 now and still have an occasional off day. I also have dry skin on hands and arms, hands have started peeling. These are side effects of med and can last several weeks it's different for everyone, but hang in there the sertraline will help. Hope this helps Tim

Hi.
Iv Been on them for nearly 6 weeks.
First couple of weeks I was getting palputations and feeling of a heavy
Chest, but I put it down to anxiety on starting the medication.
I also had skin irritation, headaches.
First 2/3 weeks I had loads of symptoms but they are getting less.
But iv had a bad weekend feeling nauseous but that is quiet normal so
people have said on this forum
Your not a loan, I visit this forum everyday. It's nice to help or be helped.

Hi
Iv been on them for 6 weeks tomorrow.
And I'm getting some side effects again.
And a few more new ones. Apparently we will get these on and
off until they are fully in our system.
I did have a couple of good weeks. I too have had palputations
and a feeling of lump in my throat, dizzy spells. And diarrhea has started now. Just hope it all settles down
We are all on this for a reason to make us feel better,
And we all need each others support.

Hello thanks for reply yes i agree were on them for a reason but i have developed symptoms i have never experienced before many of them so it's kind of counter productive i feel. Pretty sure i have developed asthma since beginning these..Again something I've never had a problem with before. I wonder if they are helping at all.

I wasn't being funny about us being on them for a reason.
Just meant that they should be helping after 6 weeks I would
have thought.
But iv had the most horrific day today. Dizzy anxious, crying.
Tightness in my chest.
It's still early days for us both they are a slow relising drug.
Hang on in there like I am for the time being

Yes i have been in them since December
It's not nice to wonder if they are working atall, could i ask you what triggered you to go onto them, age? Just some info i guess i just want to hear what others are on them etc.
I'm 32 i think i have suffered from stress and anxiety for many years. But i went through a series of rough events November last year.
Hence being prescribed these with propranolol.
As i say tho whilst in some ways i say they are working they have gave me many other things i didn't originally have.
Such as tremors lump in throat etc.
In fact to many to list i would say I've had almost every side effect.
Thought about just stopping them but have even read horror story's about that. I'm not convinced i am depressed but definitely admit to the stress and anxiety. Thanks for talking

Hi.
I'm 56 and was put on them for heath anxiety mainly.
I lost my husband to cancer when he was 54, 9 years ago.
I'm scared that something like that will happen to me.
And other family issues and losses iv had over the last few years.
I felt I couldn't cope so asked the doctor for help.
But like you I'm having such bad side effects I'm damned if I
do and damned if I don't, ( take this medication.)
But someone told me the more anxious I get about the side
effects the worse they get,
I worried if they don't work or side effects don't settle what next
