Worried about urine test result and scared !

38 year old male recovering from prostatitis. Yesterday I had my 30 day follow-up and I am healing from the prostatitis fairly well. Per standard procedure a urine test was done and everything was good except I had small trace of bilirubin in my urine. My urologist did not seem concerned and so I didn't think anything of it in fact she did not even schedule a follow up as I am recovering nicely from the prostate issue. I get home and look it up and now I am freaked out I have liver disease! I am not jaundice and no other liver disease signs. I did drink quite a bit the night before and a few other nights last week as well. Not sure if that can skew that number at all? When should I be concerned about the trace of bilirubin in the urine? Really scared right now

Hi Brian I would say that your specialist is absolutely correct in not being concerned with a trace of bilirubin showing in a dip stick test, considering you are recovering from prostatitis, just make sure you keep well hydrated and rest and I bet a couple of weeks and your test will be clear.

    Take care

There are many things that could cause it, such as gallstones blocking the bile duct.

Ask your GP for an LFT if you are worried.
