Worried I’ve damaged my babies skin

hello everyone,

I was driving on the highway with my 2.5 month old baby in rear facing a car seat, when I noticed that the sun was beaming directly on her face. I was driving and panicked that she would get burned since she’s so young. I know now the car seat has a shade on it but I didn’t realize since we have a winter cover on it.

I felt like her cheeks looked rosy afterward, and I’m absolutely devastated and ashamed that I put her in that position. She was in the sun on and off for 20-25 minutes.

How bad is that amount of sun exposure for a baby? I don’t know how much uv protection the rear window of a car offers.

Im really hoping for some input on this... I haven't been able to forgive myself I feel terrible!

Dont fret too much Sara. All new Mums make mistakes and you are now worried sick and ashamed so you have learned your lesson and probably will take greater care now. I dont think you have done any lasting damage. If its sunny in future put a little baby sun cream SPF 50 on any exposed skin, but keep her in the shade.

No Mum is perfect...we all do our best. xx
